Last year, The Liffey Trust provided funding to Synge Street CBS to upgrade their science laboratory, as part of a broader initiative by the Trust aimed at supporting DEIS (Delivering Equality of Opportunity in Schools) schools in Dublin’s Inner City.

DEIS schools have been identified as those in disadvantaged areas that do not have the same opportunities as others. The Liffey Trust’s aim is to help these schools deliver STEM education.

This initiative represents a pivotal move to bridge educational inequalities and provide students with the tools and facilities they need to succeed in today’s fast-paced world. DEIS schools, which serve disadvantaged communities, often struggle with limited resources.

We are delighted to announce, that the works for the second school initiative – Synge Street CBS have been completed. The Liffey Trust’s funding went towards upgrading their science lab ensuring that students have access to a modern, state-of-the-art lab that will help foster a deeper understanding of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) subjects – crucial for nurturing curiosity and inspiring the next generation of scientists, engineers, and innovators.

We look forward to working with more schools in 2025 and continuing to support STEM education.
