We are delighted to announce, that The Liffey Trust’s first awarded Scholar has graduated from University College Dublin with first-class honours.
The Liffey Trust entered a partnership with University College Dublin in 2019 where Emer O’ Doherty was awarded the first The Séamus McDermott Entrepreneurial Scholarship. This scholarship has the principal purpose of promoting the concepts of job creation, entrepreneurial development, and education for life, in the minds of undergraduate students commencing their studies at University College Dublin.
Speaking on her time in UCD, Emer said:
I have officially graduated from UCD, after a wonderful six years. I feel incredibly lucky to have had such a positive and fulfilling time in college, and I was thrilled to graduate with first-class honours.
I’m now preparing to start the next chapter, beginning work at the Mater Hospital at the end of the month. It still feels a bit surreal to have reached this point, but I’m excited for what lies ahead.I also want to take this opportunity to sincerely thank you. The scholarship you awarded me gave me such a strong foundation at the beginning of college. It was a huge help and opened doors that led to so many valuable opportunities over the years. As I step out into the wider world, I’ll always remember the support you gave me — and I’m committed to paying it forward wherever I can.

A huge congratulations to Emer, and we wish her the very best of luck in the Mater Hospital and all her future endeavours.
